And I see no reason to feel guilty about Duel, Dawn of the Dead, or Reservoir Dogs. Agreed. I think a few of may have misunderstood what a "guilty pleasure" movie means. It doesn't mean one in a genre you don't typically like that may seem surprising to people. It means a movie that majority regard as crappy that you actually like a lot. That pretty much describes 90% of the movies I like.

I think a few of you guys do not know the definition of "guilty pleasure" movies. A popular movie like "This is Spınal Tap" cannot fall under the banner of a guilty pleasure. You need to pick a bad movie that most people/critics hated when it was screened. Like "Ishtar," which I love. (By the way, I just screened "Tap" for a neighbour who had never seen it and she loved it too.) Preach it! I was perplexed with some of the answers as well. Enough Said is an AMAZING movie that got a ton of critical acclaim. It is one of the best films I have seen in the past 5 years. No way is that a guilty pleasure. But, it does seem like maybe they just weren't initially quite sure what "guilty pleasure" meant. Some of mine? Buffy the Vampire Slayer (the movie, which rules) Problem Child 1/2 (that little bastard kid is hilarious) Rookie of the Year City Slickers 2: The Legend of Curly's Gold To Gillian on Her 37th Birthday The Odd Couple 2 (not a fan of the first film, but really liked the second for some reason. I guess I found really old Lemmon and Matthau funnier) -There are others I was too embarrassed to even put on this list. I own the first "Odd Couple" movie and the entire TV series and I laugh at almost all of them after watching many, many times. Never saw the distant sequel.

Is that the one where he's the lone survivor of a nuclear war and he breaks his glasses? Yeah, I'd be pretty grumpy about that, too.

No. You're thinking of that Twilight Zone episode where he wakes up and everyone is alike.

There are 2 1/2 whole seasons where everyone wakes up and they act like outré comic book characters.

Sidekicks is a nice pick! That's a pretty obscure movie. I owned the VHS and watched it many times as a kid. Only thing is that I am pretty sure it would not hold up now for me. I don't think I would like it nearly as much, as the ones in my list that I still watch today and they still hold up, as far as my enjoyment of them. Some of it could also have to do with the fact Jonathan Brandis killed himself. I found it not as enjoyable to watch that movie after that happened. But, nevertheless, I haven't thought of Sidekicks in a long time. Mr...... Dumpling!

I personally don't understand why it got panned by everyone. I also really love Grumpy Old Men and that one received good reviews yet I do think the odd couple 2 is about as good, except in summer instead of winter. I saw it in the theatre when it came out lol.

But you know, somehow...he's not really dead if we find a way to remember him. So I still watch Sidekicks from time to time ! All those 80's and 90's movies from my list I've watched and enjoyed as a child, good times ! A few more came to my mind... 3 Ninjas (1992)One Crazy Summer (1986)Beethoven (1992)Dennis the Menace (1993) Look Who's Talking (1989) Employee of the Month (2006)Problem Child is also a great pick - me and my brother watched it at every opportunity ! John Ritter also died too early...

I own that one and Dennis the Menace on DVD.

That's true, the sequels to 3 Ninjas failed me too. Couldn't remember even one scene of them. Another reason why I like Dennis the Menace so much is Christopher Lloyd as Switchblade Sam, always makes me laugh !

Going by the definition of "guilty pleasure movie" as opined by snelling , 'Live by Night' is my latest one. It was pulled early from the theaters, and you don't have to go far to read negative reviews of it, but I really liked it. I wasn't bothered too much by the pace or Ben Affleck in the lead role. Gangsters in cinema are often portrayed by better looking actors. Take a look at the real Henry Hill vs. Ray Liotta, for example. If Scorsese wanted to go for realism in that regard, he should've cast F. Murray Abraham as Hill.

Fast times at Ridgemont high... That movie was very well received by critics and the movie audience. So....not really worthy of guilty pleasure status. It's just a good movie.

But I'd say Killer Klowns from Outer Space and Class of Nuke 'Em High would be appropriate???

Anyone ever see "White Water Summer" with Sean Astin and Kevin Bacon? The very definition of guilty pleasure movie, to me.

Jared Hess, writer and director of Napoleon Dynamite never became a household name, and people only seem to enjoy ND, but Nacho Libre and Gentlemen Broncos are so funny.
Can't imagine why they're so underrated. It seems his brand of slapstick and deadpan humor's an acquired taste.
