Born in Lynn, raised in Swampscott about two miles away. I believe Amos McCoy should have come from the fictional town of Swampscott, WV. The name fits the character. I like the "Swamp" part. It would definitely fit, but Swampscott, Mass. is a bit, let's say, snobby. They probably would have sued. So how do the locals pronounce "Swampscott"? "Samskaw"? In Massachusetts it can't be the same as the way it's spelled.
