Poor guy. He was so out of his league against George and his macho head games.
George's plan was to work in the Yankees...and establish trust...for several weeks. His supervisor never realized that he was about to become the target of a systematic process of intimidation and manipulation, the likes of which you have never seen!
It all started in the meeting, when Mr. Morgan, having come across George's unusual way of eating his Snickers with a knife and fork, inquired about it. George responded in a foul, condescending manner, thereby questioning Mr. Morgan's upbringing, his authority, nay, his competence, in front of the entire staff!
Not content with the humiliation Mr. Morgan suffered during the meeting, George showed up with 'The Exterminator' while Mr. Morgan was dining. Solo. Never to miss an opportunity, George rubbed it in how he was having dinner with friends from college while Mr. Morgan was forced to eat alone, without any companionship. The connection he felt to his favorite restaurant was also shattered when George gleefully revealed that rats had been frolicking in Mr. Morgan's dinner...
All this would have been enough to drive one up the wall.
But George got more devious. Not only did George plant the seeds of mistrust in his shaky marriage (enjoy your massage ), he gave Morgan the reference of a wake-up guy, who he knew was occupied that night with Elaine! (who is a woman!... ba-ba-boom-chika-boom-chika-boom-boom-boom!), ensuring that the trust Mr. Morgan had built in Mr. Wilhelm's eyes, was forever destroyed.
For his final humiliation George arranged to send the birthday card to Mr. Steinbrenner, Mr. Morgan's hero, without his wishes.
In the end, getting fired was an act of mercy, a coup de grâce, if you will.
Farewell Mr. Morgan.
