I was hoping for a Branch Rickey story. Like the one about how he died on the same day that Frank Robinson was traded by Cincinnati to the Orioles.

Which, ironically, used to make Frank Robinson throw up.

The Steely Dan song "Rickey Don't Lose That Number" was told from the perspective of a ballplayer's agent, who didn't want the Dodgers GM to lose contact with him. rhs: It's "Rikki." Well, they changed the spelling of the name to avoid a lawsuit.

Desi Arnaz, being a huge fan of Jackie, also honored Robinson by often making sure his next line in the script had 42 words or that, when he was performing, he would do 42 dance steps during his song.
