Astros in a double header just BEAT the Mets! My Mets were just doing their part to bring smiles to the faces of Houstonians. Expect them to bring some more cheer today when they get swept in the series.

But the Sawx bats could have been hotter lately. They got swept by the O's last week, being outscored 25-4. A win today will break them even in the series with the Yankees, and it will have burned off four more games. Put the Yankees farther back in the rear view mirror, guys.

Is that the Mets' slogan now? "Rebuilding since 1974"?

Is that the Mets' slogan now? "Rebuilding since 1974"? Quite. In fact it's carved into the cornerstone of Citi Field.

You took some seats and the old scoreboard from Shea Stadium home with you and you do "Kiner's Korner" from your living room, don't you? I swear I saw Bud Harrelson coming out of your building one day.

Yeah, sure. And Jon Milner's brother, Martin, was on Adam-12.

Not that I condone it! I've never condoned teams losing to bring smiles in my administration! But their generosity is beyond question!!

As the Red Sox continue their spiraling out of control, we stand strong in the belief that Rick Porcello can get those 20 losses.

who is going to be the mets skipper next year? george? Not Jason Hanke? He's a step-skipper, so I say he should at least be considered a candidate for the spot.

Not have his team show up for games? Put eight men on the field? You want an incompetent manager, may I present Mr. John Farrell. You can have him without giving anything in return. It's a fair trade and will help both sides.

Yeah, the Blue Jays were only too happy to allow Farrell to interview with the Sawx for their manager's spot. No resistance whatsoever. How often do you see that? That should have been a red flag right there. Nope, we'll pass, thankyouverymuch.

Used Blake Swihart, one of their top prospects and a CATCHER in left field (in Fenway, no less), causing him to injure his ankle. He hasn't been the same since. 2. Used Steven Wright, at the time their 2nd best starting pitcher, as a pinch-runner, when he had never even been to bat in his MLB career, injuring his shoulder and possibly ruining his career. 3. Overused Drew Pomeranz last season, causing arm fatigue. 4. Mishandles his bullpen on a weekly basis. 5. Has no answer as to why Rick Porcello has sucked 2 of the 3 years he's been in Boston even though Farrell was supposedly the best pitching coach around ten years ago. 6. Tries to cheat by stealing signs. And STILL loses!!

But the Sawx must be quite a team to be in first place in spite of his gaffes.

I would rather have tried to find Pee Wee Herman work in the autumn of 1991 than find a job for Farrell. The Sox have a pretty solid team on paper (although they have no power). Put Francona back in that dugout and they're 88-56 and have the A.L. East wrapped up.
