I thought that the O's were the team to beat, and yet they're unloading their talent at the trade deadline. What's the deal with that? Don't tell me. Mancini's contract expires at the end of the season, so he's just a "rental" for the Stros.

Now they're playing pretty well (save for two losses to the awful Reds). I guess this means they gave up anyways?

Vazquez gets away from Alex Core-a-apple. He's probably having a big party in Houston. pizzabagel: Are we invited? Nope. Just SirMoe.

Just get those pitchers, Rodriguez and Hall ready to go and another infielder (Correa?) and you're off to the races.

Put ten guys out there. Just watch out for collisions. "¡Yo lo tengo!"

The 71st anniversary of the 3' 7" Gaedel's one and only plate appearance as a St. Louis Brown (he walked on balls and was replaced at 1st base by a pinch-runner) is actually only 17 days away. One of my favorite parts of the publicity stunt: (Gaedel's) contract had been filed late in the day on Friday, August 17. (Bill) Veeck knew the league office would summarily approve the contract upon receipt, and that it would not be scrutinized until Monday, August 20. Upon reading the contract, (umpire) Hurley motioned for Gaedel to take his place in the batter's box (as a result of Gaedel's appearance, all contracts must now be approved by the Commissioner of Baseball before a player can appear in a game).

And don't tell me they didn't have that technology back then. If they could get a uniform with the number "1/8" for a midget, they could email. Gaedel: It's 'little person', you son of a bitch!

"Work, work, work!"

She went around ramming people, sometimes off stage and they'd fall onto tables. Then Bette Davis would start chanting "ECW! ECW!"
