Did you let the horse run free when the desert turned to sea? How the hell can a horse run in the sea? At the Del Mar racetrack near San Diego the slogan is "Where the turf meets the surf." I believe they still have access to the beach and take the horses down there for a dip.

Are they racing them or eating them? They race them there. At a track south of the border, Caliente they don't race horses anymore, only dogs. Don't dogs eat horsemeat? Here's the Del Mar track with the highway and train tracks between it and the ocean. There are underpasses where they can take the horses to the beach. Apparently the tide was high when this was taken.

From "Life of Rusty": "Rusty. A foal they called Rusty. He grew. Grew, grew and grew. Grew up to be. Grew up to be ... a horse named Rusty."

The next thing you know, the turd meets the surf. The turd? That's absurd! I haven't been there for the horseracing since the seventies. The highlight there was my mother's win on 50 to one longshot, Damson Dan. The most famous horse I ever saw was at Hollywood Park in Inglewood, CA. It closed in 2013. He was Seattle Slew who had recently won the 1977 Triple Crown. πππ
