Any thoughts when this occurs?
I think if the movie happens to take place in a certain time period, I say, "why not"? The '70's Columbia Sunbeam logo in front of American Hustle, and the "W" Warner Bros. logo for The Nice Guys immediately come to mind.

The film Zodiac used the old Paramount and Warner Brothers logos.

Drag Me To Hell also uses an old Universal logo, but I'm not sure why. I don't believe the movie was set during the time period of that particular logo, unlike the others already mentioned.

The late '70s Warner logo was used for Argo as well.
I love when they do that, it's a nice touch.

I don't know why they called them radio pictures when the concept of television was alive in the early thirties.

That would have sucked for The Monkees. Peter: "Hi Mike. WHEW! Did you step in something out there?" Mike: "What are you talking about?"

The movie Nebraska used the 1950's and 1960's Paramount logo, at the beginning and at the end. It didn't make sense other than the movie being shot in black and white, but I liked it. Incredible movie by the way, a 10/10 imo.

The characters are so authentic and the locations really remind me of places I've been.

How can anyone dislike "Fargo?" Both the movie and the current TV show.

How can anyone dislike "Fargo?" Both the movie and the current TV show. Predictable, cliche-ridden plot, SAD-inducing setting, cringe-worthy accents...

It probably wasn't a retro logo at the time, but I must note the memorably inventive way the logo goes into the movie at the opening of "Blazing Saddles."

Volume was very low on these videos for me. I get a kick out of this song very near the beginning:
