The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (original) I also like the 4th (?) one, the one with Renee Zellweger, forget what it's called but it's so bad it's good. Evil Dead Evil Dead 2 Dead Dudes in the House Dawn of the Dead (original and remake) House of 1000 Corpses Bad Taste Hellraiser Hellbound Hellraiser 2 Dead Dudes in the House?! Hehehe, I never thought I'd see anybody list that as one of their favorites. She's a woman. Boom chicka-boom chicka-boom-boom-boom! So of course she wants to see dudes, especially dead ones. The deader, the better.

I never thought anyone besides me had seen it. You'd be hard pressed to find a b-horror film from the 80's that I haven't seen. Hey, you wanna see something really scary...?

My personal favorite type of horror films are 80s slasher, anthology, and Giallo. That being said, ones I really like are:
Ones already mentioned: Suspiria (original) Scream (the first one) Pieces (can't believe two ppl mentioned that one already!!!)
Others: Terror Train (1980) Trick 'r Treat (2007) Asylum (1972) Tales from the Crypt (1972) The Fog (1980) The Funhouse (1981) Scarecrows (1988) Prince of Darkness (1987) Black Christmas (1976)

I always watch Black Christmas around Christmastime to counter all the Christmas-themed comedies, dramas, and cartoons.

They also re-did it as one of their episodes for the tv show. As far as horror tv shows, Tales from the Crypt and Are you Afraid of the Dark (first 5 seasons) are where it's at!!

Did you ever see Dark Shadows, Kolchak: The Night Stalker, The Hitchhiker, Tales from the Darkside, Friday the 13th: The Series, Freddy's Nightmares or Nightmare Cafe? Good stuff.

Of all those shows I have seen only a handful of episodes of The Hitchhiker because my brother bought the first 3 seasons on dvd one day randomly. The ones I saw were pretty good, but not overly scary. Some of the other shows were before my time though. My father was a huge Dark Shadows and Kolchak fan. He owns those on dvd. As far as the last three you mentioned, I never saw any of the Friday the 13th films (I know, crazy right?), so should probably watch those first,. And I have heard of the last two shows you listed and am interested, but I think they are harder to find to watch episodes of since they weren't on for very long.

The Friday the 13th films and the Friday the 13th show aren't related in any way. The show is about antique dealers tracking down all of the haunted antiques they have sold. Oh, and didn't you say your favorite types of horror films are 80's slashers, and you've never seen Friday the 13th?!?!?!

Nightmare Cafe only aired for a few months on NBC in early 1992. It's available on Youtube and Dailymotion but only in broadcast/vhs quality. Freddy's Nightmares aired on a regular UHF station (what would become the The WB/CW) in 1988. I tried to hunt down some episodes, but I could only find them on a pirate streaming site, here (it produces some popups): Freddy's Nightmares PilotAnother good show, I forgot to mention, is the series Werewolf. It aired on Sunday nights on Fox in 1987. You can find it on Youtube in broadcast/vhs quality. And, as Znep stated, the Friday the 13th film franchise and the television show are related in name only. Neither Jason Voorhees nor any other characters from the films are in any of the episodes, nor do any episodes take place at Camp Crystal Lake. You can find episodes of the series on Youtube that look, to me, like dvd rips. It's cool that your Dad likes Kolchak (I'm a big Darren McGavin fan) and Dark Shadows. The latter series can be somewhat exasperating to watch because it's so drawn out (it took 211 episodes before they introduced Barnabas Collins) but it's decent. While all these series have incorporated horror elements, none of them are all that scary, I guess because they aired on television. There are certain constraints you're bound by on television that aren't applicable to film. Nightmare Cafe Pilot Werewolf Pilot Friday the 13th: The Series Pilot

I think the reason I never watched Friday the 13th was because of the commitment. I'd want to watch the others too and there's just too damn many. I actually think I watched Freddy vs. Jason, but don't remember much of it. I will watch Friday the 13th though. It's weird I haven't. I guess you can add that to my list on the popular films you haven't seen thread.

See, the reason I liked Tales from the Crypt so much was because it WAS scary. I was fairly young when they aired, but I legitimately was scared by several episodes.

The fourth one, Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter, is the one where Jason gets killed off and the series was supposedly over, as you can tell by the title. But of course, you can't keep a good franchise down. Part six is my personal favorite. I actually enjoy the first nine, then they kind of lost me when Jason went to space.

I can definitely get into low budget movies, but I do not watch stuff like Sharkenstein, where the intent is to be as stupid as possible. So bad it's good only works when it's done unintentionally.

Same here. With so much I haven't seen, I doubt that I'll ever give these CGI-heavy, intentionally bad monster and spoof movies a chance.

I saw this one. That was enough. Though it did give me pause to consider the effects of climate change...
