He was the best. Saw him live a few times and we laughed so hard it was physically painful. He'd have a field day with what's going on these days, although I'm almost happy for his sake he doesn't have to endure it.

I can't wrap my head around how tight and precise Carlin's stand-up shows were. Your never see him testing his material and refining jokes in front of a smaller audience either. He must've practiced at home for hours and hours.

He must've practiced at home for hours and hours. One of my favorite bits was when he was talking about how in the "Comedian Death Sweepstakes", he was beating Richard Pryor in the heart attack category two to one, but Pryor was winning in "Setting Oneself on Fire" one to zero. He then went on to explain the way it went was Pryor had a heart attack, so Carlin had a heart attack. Then, Pryor tried to set himself on fire, and Carlin said, "Fuck that. I'm gonna have another heart attack".
