I just figured out today that when Potter offered George $20,000 a year, that would equal over $275,000 in today's dollars. First he does not invest in the plastics with Sam Wainwright (no idea why not), then he didn't take that job. George could have simply taken the job and then waited out Potter's eventual death. I can't respect him anymore.

The estate sold it forty years later for over one million. I could have bought a small condo about 15 miles from me less than four years ago for $155,000. It was recently listed at $303,000.
