Which one do you think would've done a great job?
Actors who auditioned or were considered for the role:
- Larry Miller - Nathan Lane - David Alan Grier - Brad Hall - Danny DeVito - Chris Rock
I have to go with the actor who Jason Alexander said was closest to getting the job, Larry Miller. Nathan Lane is my next choice, but he has a "beautiful head of hair", so wearing a bald wig would've been distracting, and not having George bald would've robbed us of a lot of bald jokes. Danny Devito is bald and very funny, but to me it just wouldn't be believable that he's Jerry's best friend. Bottom of the list are David Alan Grier, Brad Hall, and Chris Rock.
Who would be your choice?

I thought I read that Steve Buscemi auditioned. That would have been interesting.

Gary Coleman. His "What you talkin' bout, Kramer?" would have been comedy gold!

" not having George bald would've robbed us of a lot of bald jokes." But we could have had a lot of thick, lustrous hair jokes. Maybe someone sticks their hand in George's hair and can't get it out?

How could a person not get one's hand out of someone's hair? I think it's a matter of the hair being so thick and lustrous that you don't want to get your hand out. Makes sense?
But yeah, a non-bald George would have deprived us of a lot of the gags we take for granted.

Ted Danson was kind of bald. He could have played George. A delicious irony!

Gary Coleman. His "What you talkin' bout, Kramer?" would have been comedy gold! And Mickey could be his stand-in.

Elaine could have been played by that Blossom girl. She had unlimited potential.

If it had been David Alan Grier, then George would have looked like this:

See, I think Jon Lovitz would've made a good George, balding, kinda sleazy,.he coulda made "good for you, Jack" into a national catch phrase..

Brad Hall? It would've been interesting to say the least to see how he and his wife would play off each other.

Brad Hall? It would've been interesting to say the least to see how he and his wife would play off each other. His professionalism would have had to been really high in certain moments, such as the "He's the loser" scene in The Lip Reader.

Voight? How are you comparing Jon Voight with Larry Miller? SirMoe, weβre talking about The Doorman. If you can play The Doorman, getting tied up and watching your friend get sodomized is a cake walk. "The Doorman" is one of my least favourite episodes of all. If Larry Miller played George I would probably not have watched. In that episode, everything could be solved by Elaine meeting Jerry outside after the first bad encounter. Absolutely dumb premise. Who the fuck steals a couch anyway? PARDON MY FRENCH! <----I coined that

Even the worst episode is watchable. Better than "Friends" anyway. I love anything with Frank. Plus the "Marathon Man" references that nobody ever understands.
