this was weirdly very funny, a deep movie about deeply superficial people.

I fell asleep during Plein soleil ( Purple Noon). It's the French adaptation of The Talented Mr. Ripley. It wasn't boring or anything, I was just really tired. I'll probably rewatch it, when I have a chance.

I don’t know if it’s the LAST one I watched, but probably close to it: Stranger by the Lake (2014). That movie is a scene, I tell ya. A real scene. Very graphic in a couple of scenes (not that there’s anything wrong with that!), but very good and suspenseful. I enjoyed it a lot.

this was weirdly very funny, a deep movie about deeply superficial people. I am surprised I missed this initial thread! I love that film! I saw it years ago. I remember liking it quite a lot. I don’t remember finding it funny really, but it was a very good, minimalistic film (which is a type of film I really go for). I don’t necessarily need a lot of plot. I don’t mind a plotless character study film or day in the life type of film.

That is probably Bunuel’s best. I’ve seen 6-7 others and he is a director I really tried to like, but was not in love with most of the ones I saw. That being said, Phantom of Liberty is also a really good one of his.

My first experience with Bunuel was "Un Chien Andalou" in college. Yes, I am that old. My wife just turned 55 three days ago. Any questions will be answered.

Not a huge fan, but "Un Chien Andalou" is only about twenty minutes long. It's free online if anyone wants to see it.

Is Buñuel French? I think he is Spanish-ish.

François Truffaut's The 400 Blows is on TV tonight. I haven't seen that one in ages, so I think I might watch it.
